tribtown > Jim Schneider of rural Brownstown has been spending his days of late perform maintenance on his farm equipment because rain continues to delay planting.

tribtown > Carly Klaes, daughter of Chris and Diane Klaes, received the Brownstown Chamber of Commerce's Youth of the Year award during the organization's annual meeting at Pewter Hall on Thursday. Klaes graduated from Brownstown Central High School on May 24 and plans to pursue a medical career.

tribtown > June Gorbett, right, spent the better part of Wednesday evening cleaning up downed trees around her home at 5822 N. Cleveland St. in Kurtz. Gorbett received plently of help from nieghbors, including April Ault and Bill MIller. The storm left behind downed trees and utility lines throughout Jackson County and power outages also were reported.

tribtown > Abby Jungclaus, 17, and her mother, Sunny Jungclaus, spent Tuesday afternoon cleaning up in the aftermath of a storm that knocked down several trees at their home at 863 E. Pine St. at the Lake & Forest Club east of Brownstown.

tribtown > Medora High School senior Alayna Cowles and 13 classmates will graduate from the southwestern Jackson County school at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

tribtown > Seymour firefighters were called to this apartment in the 600 block East Oak Street at 1:58 p.m. Thursday to put out a fire in a kitchen. Fire Chief Fred Hines said his firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen and the attic above at the apartment, located in the Canterbury Apartments. Hines said invesigators believe the fire was likely caused by a burner on the stove being left. A woman and the two and a half year old child of her sister were in the apartment at the time, but were able to escape, Hines reported. The apartment complex is owned by John Brooks.

tribtown > Seymour police were called to the scene of a possible personal injury wreck involving a sport utility vehicle and a flat bed semitrailer at Fourth Street and Broadway at 1:16 p.m. Tuesday. No other details were available at press time.

tribtown > Bob Luenebrink is spearheading efforts to identify family members of three veterans buried along Soldiers' Row at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour. The goal is to place government grave markers for those three veterans.
