tribtown > Staff Sgt. James Mitchell of Bloomington and Staff Sgt. Kade Brescher of Brownstown spent part of their day Wednesday serving as pathfinders for parachutists practicing jumps from Blackhawk helicopters at Freeman Field in Seymour. Pathfinders helped the jump master determine when soldiers may jump from the helicopter and when weather conditions are optimal. The exercise was planned for some of the full-time members of the 2-152 Reconnaisance and Surveillance Calvary Squadron (Airborne). The unit is a component of the Indiana National Guard's newly activated 219th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade.
tribtown > Some members of the 2-152 Reconnaissance and Surveillance Calvary Squadron (airborne spent Wednesday morning practicing parachute drops from Blackhawk helicopters at Freeman Field in Seymour. The squadron, also known as Charlie Company, is a component of the Indiana National Guard's newly activated 219th Battlefield Surveillance Battalion, which is headquartered at Camp Atterbury. Two Blackhawks were brought in from the guard's Shelbyville facility for the exercise, which involves 48 parachute drops.
