Janice Carter, the daughter of Tuskegee Airman Walter Palmer, talks about her father during a ceremony to rename a portion of I-65 the Tuskegee Airmen Highway at the Columbus Municipal Airport in Columbus, Ind., Friday, Oct. 21, 2016. The Indianapolis Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. requested that the Indiana Legislature pass a resolution to rename a portion of I-65 in honor the first African American aviators in U.S. history. The ceremony was held at the airport due to it's connection with training Tuskegee Airmen when it was named Atterbury Army Airfield during World War II. The portion of I-65 between Johnson County and Seymour was renamed the Tuskegee Airmen Highway. Mike Wolanin | The Republic
